Orthotics

What are orthotics?

Orthotics are custom made devices prescribed by a podiatrist to fit inside your shoes. They help to either correct or accomodate the foot, support the arch and correctly align foot posture to assist with complaints such as foot pain, ankle injuries, flat feet and biomechanical problems affecting the entire body.

What conditions can be treated with orthotics?

  • Chronic heel, foot, shin, knee or lower back pain

  • Flat-feet (pronated) or children with flat feet

  • Foot/knee pain

  • Ankle pain

  • Toe deformities

  • In-Toed Gait (your toes point in when you walk)

  • Painful corns/calluses

At FootMed Podiatry, we aim to have you pain free and back doing the things you love.

A biomechanical assessment will be carried out prior to an orthotic recommendation.

Your Podiatrist will also give you a strengthening/stretching program to accompany your orthotics and encourage you to have appropriate footwear.
